Took the test 10/19/18 and passed with a scaled-score of 93%!I cross trained in a clinic setting for about 6 months working an average of two days a week. I took the ASRT CT course for CE credits, and never studied from it again other than taking the one practice exam they had at the end. The only other study tools from Mosby's that I used was an Introduction to Sectional Anatomy book by Michael E. Madden and Computed Tomography for Technologists: A comprehensive text by Lois E. Romans 1st edition to fill in the gaps of understanding from not being a CT student in a program.I originally tried studying the second edition and personally liked this edition more because I felt like it was more up to date on the machine (64-slice) we are currently using and the procedures associated with it. In regards to questions being wrong, I found a few test questions that were wrong, specifically a cross-sectional anatomy question and a couple others, but overall this book is very reliable.I read the Mosby's book occasionally through out my 6 months, just glancing over it. Then about 2 weeks before my test I did some hard core studying. I read the entire Mosby's book and took all of the exams. I scored between 85-95 on the practice tests and also did all of the online tests Mosby offers. I would say if you study the Mosbys book and do the practice tests you will be golden! I feel like Mosby's prepared me very well for the exam. No schooling required!
There’s a lot of mistakes in it. Which made me worried about relying on it. I mostly used the 2nd edition instead because of that. And the 2nd edition lets you time yourself with mixed questions online. This one only lets you time yourself for each section which is silly cause that’s not how the board will be. I passed the exam using the older edition and mic. The anatomy in this book is not enough I’d definitely find something to add.
I never write reviews, but I felt like I had to for this book if it could help someone else! I just took my registry Dec. 15th 2018 and passed with a 87! I read this book about 3 times and took all of the tests in the back of the book. The test in the back were very similar to my actual test! I did have a few other additional resources such as MIC and the CT anatomy App to help with more cross sectional anatomy! But this book was my main tool two months before my test!
There were a few things wrong in the book as others have said but overall this is a go to crash course study guide. If you have experience, read through studied and highlight the book, go online and eventually score a 90 on the different sections, and score at least a 70 on the 1st comprehensive exam you'll do great. If you're really worried Google mic flashcard review and read through those as well. I got a 90 and I feel like I could have skimmed this over, took it, and passed. Good luck!
Great book, read this book in combination with mic and passed the registry. In my opinion mic is great and straight to the point but Mosbys is more detail and harder to understand but Mosbys makes up with the question bank and exam simulations in the back of the book.
First thing I tried to do when purchasing the Mosby book was to try to do the practice test questions. Overwhelmed immediately, I then tried the question bank online that comes with the book. Not hard, baby steps... There were some hard concepts to understand from physics but, the MIC book brakes it down very well, did that for a couple weeks. Then I started to take the practice tests again and got 60’s on them. Then I took notecards of the ones I missed and read them every other day. I also bought an app for anatomy called CT anatomy which helped a lot! I started getting 80s on the practice tests. When test day came I just kept things simple, assumed they wouldn’t ask something I didn’t know. Overall did very well, the book prepares you for what you need to know.
This book is absolutely not sufficient enough on it's own! the practice exams at the end of the book are nothing like what you get with ARRT as the questions are NOT mixed! This edition (3rd) has lot's of mistakes as typo, wrong answer choices, and also with the complementary online portion of the resource study that comes with the book! I would highly recommend the " LANG REVIEW" over this! I'm very glad that had that book as well, and i did pass my ARRT!
Great review book. I bought the online book for way cheaper and printed out practice tests!Update: took test and got 87, very very good material on this newer addition, lots of tests questions exactly or similar to practice tests!
